I guess I shouldn't complain considering the economy is in the toilet and people are losing their jobs left and right, but I really hate my job. I've been taking care of the elderly for far too long and to be honest, I've just lost all compassion for them. A person can only take so much. Don't get me wrong, I used to love my job. I enjoyed hearing the stories that I would hear about the "old days" and I have really taken care of alot of nice people. But somewhere along the way, I lost my passion for the job. I never wanted to make a career out of this. This was always something temporary until I was done with school. But everytime I try to leave, I just get sucked back in. It's like quick sand and I can't get out.
I really shouldn't be complaining about this and should be grateful I at least have a job, but I just can't look at it that way when I am so unhappy with my job. I have my associate's degree in criminal justice, which is basically useless. I should be done with my bachelor's degree in psychology in about a year, I hope. I've taken several breaks from class since my mom passed away because I am having a hard time concentrating. I was set to be done in March 2010, but that has probably been pushed back to closer to May 2010. I'm back in class for now. I am so hoping that when I am done, that the economy will be better and I will find a better job.
I mean the pay isn't too bad right now, but I have no benefits so all medical costs are my responsibility right now. I'd like that to change. I'd like to be making more money, just so we're not watching every penny anymore. Don't we all wish that though? I am hoping that I will soon be able to find a better job and ditch this job that seems like I'll never get out of. It's depressing because I was in real estate for nearly 4 years. While I was building a client base and getting my career started, I kept my current job as a backup. When the market when sour, I had to give up the real estate and continue with the home health fulltime again. Everytime I have tried to escape this shit job, something has happened to keep my feet planted right where they are. I have been with the agency for 7 years and its always been my backup so I should be happy about that. Call me ungrateful. I don't care. But this isn't what I wanted to do with my life and I feel trapped.
Oh, well. I just needed to rant and rave for a few...
